Step 3 — Choose Your Wedding Date

Step 4 — Understand the Marriage License

If you’re legally getting married in Hawaiʻi, you’ll need to understand the marriage-license process.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health currently lists the total fee at $65, with no waiting period. Both applicants must appear together before an authorized agent, and the license must be used within 30 days. Hawaiʻi does not require state residency or U.S. citizenship.

Step 5 — Check Wedding & Beach Permits

This is one of the parts you don’t want to leave until the last minute.

The rules can depend on the exact location.

For commercial beach weddings on unencumbered State shorelines, Hawaiʻi DLNR says a Wiki Permit may be required. State Parks have separate special-use permit requirements.

And here’s the important bit:

A beach next to a county park doesn’t necessarily mean the county controls the shoreline.

Always verify the applicable jurisdiction and requirements for your specific wedding location.
